Rationalising an International Legacy Supply Chain

We were engaged by one of the world’s largest independent sourcing companies to rationalise their complex legacy supply chain.

Working from our US and Hong Kong offices, this large-scale transformation programme involved significant hurdles including geographical distances, culture changes and language barriers. We implemented an end-to-end PLM solution across 13 offices around the world, including over 700 users.

Challenge

We were engaged by one of the world’s largest independent sourcing companies, specialising in apparel, footwear, accessories and other household goods, to rationalise their complex legacy supply chain.  Their rapid expansion and recent organizational changes left them with a spaghetti infrastructure and inefficient processes and procedures across their 13 international offices.

We ran a change management project for a company-wide roll out of a  proprietary PLM (product lifecycle management) tool.

This large-scale transformation programme involved significant hurdles including geographical distances, culture changes and language barriers.

Approach

Working from our offices in Hong Kong and the US, we formed a Client Change Team of 13 key core users based in each of their offices, with 48 supporting super users spread around the world.  We led this team in the production and delivery of processes, training materials, communications tools and business implementation activities.

Running across several phases, the rollout was conducted in the most efficient and least disruptive way possible, using a deep understanding of local cultural challenges to help address some of the difficulties in implementing new systems and new ways of working.

Outcome

Upon successful completion of the project we had implemented an end-to-end PLM solution across 13 offices around the world, including over 700 users.  To achieve this we administered training and roll-out of key changes to suppliers in 12 different countries, including nearly 1,000 end users.

To ensure this change was sustainable we created tools and templates for maintaining change across an upskilled team of 50+ Change Managers embedded within the business.
