Warehouse systems implementation
Replacing ASOS’ warehouse system has been an important milestone for the effective management of the fashion retailer’s growth.
Established in June 2000, ASOS.com is the largest and fastest growing independent online fashion and beauty retailer in the UK. It offers over 36 000 branded and own label product lines and approximately 1300 new product lines are introduced each week. Over the period since ASOS was founded, it has experienced rapid growth and now ships to 167 countries. ASOS’ impressive growth and ambitious plans to further increase its size meant that it was reaching a point where its systems would not be able to support the business processes. Therefore, appropriate action had to be taken to ensure the company could manage growth effectively.
Our team first conducted an independent review of their applications and processes. We interviewed key personnel across the merchandising, buying, supply chain, logistics and finance functions to identify their current state and to assess their needs.
We were then engaged by ASOS to replace and implement a new warehouse management system (WMS) with a Tier 1 retail solution. The scope of our work included the full process, from the initial choice of application to the final implementation and testing stages. Our team quickly fitted into ASOS’ culture and provided a seamless transition to the new system and introduced robust supportable business processes.
CMG also worked with ASOS on a project to establish an internal programme management capability.
