Supporting the merger of two companies
Besam UK is a subsidiary of Swedish based ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, a world leading supplier of automated entrance solutions. Its extensive product portfolio reaches a global customer base in 75 countries. A few years after ASSA ABLOY acquired Besam UK, it took over Doorman Ltd, another UK based provider of entrance solutions. The two subsidiaries were trading under separate brands for several years until a decision was made to merge the two companies and leverage the synergies between the two. The overall objective of the merger was to create a single business operating under the Besam brand with a single product and service portfolio.
Besam UK needed a partner to lead the change programme and ensure the smooth merger of the companies. Working alongside top management from Besam and Doorman, we formed a small team and started work on the programme. Our consultants conducted an infrastructure review, planned and managed the migration of data into a common finance, customer and order management system. We developed a staff communications plan and supported Besam in the consultation process with the affected employees. We also created a new organisational structure and managed the physical relocation of staff.
